advertising campaigns

I do not really like this image I think it's too simple and boring to read, if i got handed this in the street I would probably throw it in the bin without reading it. They have used a simple sans font informal but boring and too bold on the front cover, getting the message across but not the main point. They have used contrasting colours I'm not sure if this is to grab attention, but I don't think it works and it overpowers the text. To enhance this I would change the colour scheme, to colours that are more complimentary, i would also change the positioning and size of text on the front page.

I like this one I like the clean approach they have gone for making it look spacious and a quick read, it also put there point across of cleaner air. the text is easy and simple to read. the colour scheme they have used fits nice with bold headlines to draw attention and not too much colour.

I Think this is a very smart approach, I like the way they have used a joke to try and get people to read. The colours are nice to look at and compliment each other. If I got given this on the street I would read it.

I like this the most, they have used a warming orange gradient with easy to read black text on top making it easy to quickly read though. The art aspect of this may appeal to a younger generation, or just creative people. running all the way though and bleeding off the page works well also the black and with sitting on the orange background makes it stand out and interesting to look at.

I choose to look at pollution as this environmental issue has a lot off different aspects to it there for allowing me to have a lot off different types off research elements. This can help me create a different a diverse final piece of work as I will have a lot of ideas.

different types of pollution:

light pollution:

Light pollution is caused by misplaced artificial light. This effects wildlife, humans and natural habitats. Garden lights, lights on in indoor buildings and lights pointing towards the sky all contribute to this.

Urban Sky-glow: Artificial lights that are pointed upwards or misplaced cause the sky to unnaturally “glow” blocking the view of stars.
Light trespass: light that lands in areas where it is not wanted or needed. Example: light from a neighbour’s house is also lighting up your back yard.
Glare: the bright uncomfortable light that comes off of poorly built lamps. This causes a decrease in visibility.
Clutter: a grouping of bright light (Example: London) contributing to sky-glow, trespass, and glare.
The consequences this has on humans is that, our ability to see in the dark can be impacted. Glare on eyes from excessive night lighting can result in something called disability glare. This is where a light is so bright from road lighting it causes our eyes to divert. elder drivers are more susceptible to this.
The Circadian rhythm: is a 24 hour cycle our body's run on this keeps us healthy and happy. If this natural body rhythm is thrown off this can lead to severe side effects like insomnia, depression and cancer. over exposure to fake light can cause this rhythm to be thrown off.
This problem can be resolved easily by correct placed lighting.

Air pollution: Air pollution can cause bad effects both short term and long term. This effect all different types of people some of these may include:

  • People with heart or lung conditions, or other breathing problems, whose health may be affected by air pollution.
  • Parents, carers and healthcare professionals who look after someone whose health is sensitive to pollution.
  • People who want to know more about air pollution, its causes, and what they can do to help reduce it.
  • The scientific community and students, who may need data on air pollution levels, either now or in the past, throughout the UK.
In the past causes of air pollution would of came from the burning of coal but now a days it is mainly produced from the burning of  fuels like petrol mainly coming from traffic and vehicles. Lesser causes will be wood burning fire place, high emitting energy bulbs and appliances and out door heaters. All of this can be prevented but turning appliances off and getting low emitting light bulbs. some car manufacture have cars where the engine turns off if not being used also making shorter journeys all help this.

It also causes damage to plants and wildlife also crop yields.

Water pollution:

Sewage

Domestic households, industrial and agricultural practices produce waste water that can cause pollution of

many lakes and rivers.

Agricultural waste:

The agricultural industry covers 76% of the uk with thing such as slurries and pesticides polluting water.

River and sea dumping:
Dumping waste in our rivers or seas causes water pollution, harms wildlife and increases the risk of flooding.

Solutions:

Dont leave the tap running, this stops waste water. Have showers no baths.

Do not throw paints, oil based liquids or harmful substances down the drain.

Use eco-friendly house hold products.

Do not litter rivers, lakes or oceans.

Eco farm- Environmental issues

The aim of our new brief is to produce a brochure and billboard hoarding. for our inspiration we must pick from five environmental issues. Conservation, Energy, Pollution, nuclear energy and wast ( recycling, landfill).
I will collect first and secondary research for my work for example advertising campaigns for my chosen issue.

I have chosen to look at pollution as an environmental issue, I will continue to look at different brochures and advertising campaigns for this issue ending in a final piece of work.
